Get to know me

I'm Frankie B., a Puerto Rican father of four sharing my personal battle with depression and anxiety at Courage Lighthouse. As a former U.S. soldier, and a man of faith and many passions – from photography to music engineering – I know intimately what it means to navigate daily life while managing depression and anxiety symptoms. My journey reached a critical point with a recent hospitalization linked to my mental health conditions, but through faith, family support, and professional help, I found my way back from the darkness of depression and the grip of anxiety. Now, I want to tell my story and help change lives.

My story isn't just about survival; it's about learning to thrive while managing depression's heavy weight and anxiety's constant presence. I've learned that depression and anxiety don't define us – they're just part of our story. I'm not a medical professional; I'm someone who walks this path daily and hopes that sharing my journey might help others feel less alone and supported.

My mission

Courage Lighthouse exists to break the silence surrounding depression and anxiety through real and authentic storytelling and community support. My mission is to create a judgment-free space where people struggling with these specific conditions and their loved ones can find understanding, hope, and practical coping strategies. By sharing my personal experiences with depression symptoms, anxiety, and panic attacks, I aim to show others they're not alone and that recovery, while not linear, is possible.

I'm committed to:

  • Sharing honest accounts of living with depression and anxiety

  • Breaking down cultural and social stigmas around these conditions

  • Offering hope through personal experiences and insights

  • Encouraging others to seek professional help when needed

My vision

I envision Courage Lighthouse becoming a beacon of hope for anyone navigating the overwhelming waters of depression and anxiety. My vision is to build a vibrant, understanding community where:

  • People feel safe sharing their depression and anxiety journeys without judgment

  • Families find resources to better understand and support loved ones with these conditions

  • Cultural barriers around discussing depression and anxiety are broken down

  • Faith and professional treatment for these conditions coexist harmoniously

  • Every story of struggle and triumph over depression and anxiety is acknowledged

  • Personal experiences become stepping stones for others seeking hope while managing these conditions

I aim to illuminate the path forward for others while acknowledging that we're all learning to cope with depression and anxiety together. This isn't about reaching a "cure"; it's about supporting each other on the journey toward better days and manageable symptoms.
